What should I wear?
Short answer: wear what you'd wear to a nice dinner out. Longer answer below. Nobody will judge you either way.
There is no dress code.
You will see jeans. You will see sport coats. You will see sundresses. You will see suits on the older gentlemen. You will see teenagers in hoodies. You will see families with young kids wearing whatever got them out the door that morning.
If you walked in wearing a t-shirt and jeans, nobody would blink. If you walked in wearing a three-piece suit, nobody would blink.
The center of gravity, if you want a target: business casual. A collared shirt and khakis for men. A blouse and skirt or nice pants for women. But you can comfortably dress above or below that line.
Common fears that aren't a thing.
"I don't own a suit." You don't need one.
"My kids are messy." Everyone's kids are messy. That's normal.
"I'll be the only one in jeans." You won't be. There are jeans in the service every Sunday.
"I'll be overdressed." If you are, people will notice and think "oh, how nice." That's it.
"My tattoos / piercings / hair color will make me stand out." They won't. We have members with all of these.
A few practical details.
The sanctuary runs cool. If you get cold easily, bring a light layer. The air conditioning stays on well into fall.
Weather in Mooresville: summers are humid, winters are mild. You can wear what you'd normally wear for the temperature outside and be fine.
Easter and Christmas: you'll see more suits and nicer dresses than usual, but still no official dress code. Come however feels right.
